We already collect data about all OWASP chapters based on their GitHub repositories.

With a couple more additional features we could present this data in a similar way as we do for projects and contribution pages.

The new features would include:

  • adding geo coordinates to all Nest Chapter entities (do it automatically via API -- this needs to be researched a bit deeper)
  • indexing chapters with geo data and other relevant attributes
  • getting user's geo coordinates based on their IP address (https://ipapi.co/#api seems to be a good candidate for that)
  • using Algolia geo ranking for showing the most relevant results to the user
