Checked for duplicates?

  • This issue is not a duplicate

Does it also happen in the desktop version?

  • This bug does not occur in the latest version of Anki Desktop

What are the steps to reproduce this bug?

  • Connect to Internet with Wi-Fi (ex: from home) with your phone
  • Synchronize the deck in Ankidroid
  • Leave to a place where the Wi-Fi hotspot is not reachable
  • Let the Wi-Fi enabled on the phone
  • Start reviewing
  • An endless and unclosable "Processing…" ("Traitement…" in French) popup is displayed
  • Even after stopping/killing Ankidroid, disabling Wi-Fi and re-opening Ankidroid, it is not possible to review because of this popup

NB: automatic sync is disabled

Only solution:

  • Get Internet access from the phone.
  • The popup automatically closes.
  • Review one card.
  • Disable Wi-Fi
  • Continue the review

Expected behaviour

  • The review should not be blocked forever if Internet access is not available
  • If Ankidroid is restarted and Wi-Fi / mobile connection is disabled, there should be no "Processing" popup related to Internet access.

(Optional) Anything else you want to share?

It happens frequently when I use Ankidroid on an old phone that do not have any SIM card when I go running. I synchronize before leaving home, then if I forget to disable the Wi-Fi before leaving, then when I'm outside the only way to review is to:

  • use my main (larger) phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot
  • connect my old phone to it.
  • review a card
  • disable the Wi-Fi

Research

  • I have checked the manual and the FAQ and could not find a solution to my issue
  • (Optional) I have confirmed the issue is not resolved in the latest alpha release (instructions)

Hello! 👋 Thanks for logging this issue. Please remember we are all volunteers here, so some patience may be required before we can get to the issue. Also remember that the fastest way to get resolution on an issue is to propose a change directly, https://github.com/ankidroid/Anki-Android/wiki/Contributing

That sounds serious! Could I ask you to try our latest beta to see if that's still happening? You can use a parallel build to keep things separate: https://github.com/ankidroid/Anki-Android/releases
