Describe the bug
Book preview image doesn't show author or book name correctly if either name contains characters that are missing from the font used in generating book preview images.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Your instance must have preview images enabled.
  2. Start reading a book whose name or whose author's name has ”exotic” characters.
  3. The preview image is missing those ”exotic” characters and looks ugly.

Expected behavior
Preview images should show even ”exotic” characters that can appear in book or author names.

We ran into this issue a while back as well, and updated the font on the cards for better character support: #1828 (this comment in particular clarifies the current state of affairs).

It sounds like since that issue was closed, Noto may now have an option for a font that includes their whole character set: notofonts/noto-fonts#2257 (comment) so we may be able to switch over to that font
