Bugkiller is at its last alpha-only release! We are adding new improvements from this release onward.
Let's take a look at what has changed:
The gray button's evil twin
Bugkiller is switching old button style to a new, fresh, modern button style. This marks the end of your journey with your small friendly gray-colored button. We are slowly moving from OOUI-like interface, and are replacing OOUI styles with more universal Material design.
A style that looks like the old buttons. Remember back your good ol' times with that little button.
Replaced colors. We have made dark gray the default color for the buttons, and added a "success" style that is... green!
Slight modifications. We made slight tweaks, such as the rounded corners on the buttons.
The buttons now look like these:
instead of this:
The old styles are still available under the bugkiller-legacy-button class, but it is deprecated and may be removed without notice.
We are also removing wingding icons, which use the Wingdings font which is not found on many FOSS systems such as Fedora.
Destroy your entire tracker
You can now destroy your entire tracker by nuking it. Please note that this action is irreversible, and you cannot undo it.
This is protected by two things: your MySQL password and an unusual hard CAPTCHA. The CAPTCHA is implemented to prevent attackers from obtaining the password to erase your setup.
CAPTCHA
Attackers often use spam bots to create external links to scams, and spammers also use them to spam meme phrases. This is where CAPTCHA comes in.
Bugkiller's CAPTCHA implementation adds a new hard requirement: the GD library. Bugkiller generates the CAPTCHA image with GD.
The CAPTCHA is used across the site, and is required to e.g. report a bug.
Maintenance read-only mode
Bugkiller relies on an SQL database to store data. This database can be updated by the operator without any further notice. To allow for such operations to occur without conflicts, you can now mark the site read-only.
This can be useful if you are performing maintenance on the Bugkiller database, or if you are archiving your site completely.
Set readonly in config.ini to the reason for disabling (or y if the reason is unknown) to put your tracker in this mode.
Todo
We plan to add accounts assigned to each Bugkiller user. This helps distinguish between who created a post.
We plan to make the Bugkiller software extendable.
We plan to use our logo in much of the UI, e.g. the top bar would contain it.
We plan to make searching the tracker simpler, by providing more accurate results and offering sorting.
Thank you
Thanks for using Bugkiller! Feel free to open an issue if you have any further questions.
