At the moment dhcp runs no matter what.

I'm for "seperation of concern" here.
Netconfig should have happend before cpu is started, otherwise error out with "no net config found"

Edit1: Or at least check for a netconfig before running dhcp.

Does this still apply @ChriMarMe? I haven't seen that behavior, having used cpu for quite a while now and I think it didn't attempt things when I tried without network configured.
